Kao no Nai Shinigami

About this title

Mike Brandon (18) is a young man who grew up in an orphanage. One day, he learns that he is the son of the late Baron Mayer and his mistress, Mary Brandon. Thirteen years ago, while he and his mother were walking along a mountain path, a carriage struck them; his mother died, and he lost all his memories except for his name. He is escorted to the Mayer family estate in by the family’s personal physician, Dr. Carmichael. According to the doctor, the Mayer dowager has apparently been losing her mind ever since she lost her only son, Gerard. She is convinced that Gerard is still alive and behaves as if he were. Mike decides to stay at the mansion to determine whether he is a member of the Meyer family. However, the Widow Meyer and her servant, Guild, treat him coldly. Furthermore, in Gerard’s room upstairs, Mike catches a glimpse of Gerard’s back—even though Gerard is supposed to be dead. (Source: Kaiki Manga no Anagura, translated)
