About this title
Peter Mostovoy’s 1968 debut documentary is an unfiltered, charming look at an elementary school classroom as the students learn the cultural heritage of Soviet-era Russia. Their teacher guides them through their lessons as they recite Russian poetry, and their “My Portrait” essays, exhibiting their personal and national pride.
