Jim Anderson, Average American

About this title

This vérité documentary portrait follows Philly cult figure Jim Anderson, aka GRIMGRIMGRIM— artist, provocateur, WaWa enthusiast — as he battles self-destruction and inherited trauma across a decade playing chicken with oblivion. Set against the backdrop of a gentrifying pre-pandemic Philadelphia, Jim Anderson Average American captures his mad scramble between Boston and Philly, through gallery openings and noise shows, as he fights to make his mark, dodge the law, become a father, and maybe—just maybe—get sober.
