Hold Me Close continues an ongoing investigation into love as a political tool, into the image of love and the willingness to believe in it as instruments of public image management. Through government archival footage, the work examines the military service person as property of the state: their body, their likeness, their relationships deployed simultaneously as physical force and as a carefully enforced identity held up as a normative ideal for wider society.
