About this title
The Gotthard is everything in one: a pass, a water castle, a bulwark, the shortest north-south connection in the heart of Europe, a sacred mountain and, since the opening of the road tunnel in 1980, a symbol of progress and independence – but also a symbol of traffic chaos and environmental problems.
